WaylungDSD-award

Drainage Services Department and Veolia’s subsidiary in waste collection and management, Waylung, have won the Silver Medals at both the 49th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva and 4th Asia Exhibition of Innovations and Inventions Hong Kong for the jointly developed invention: the River Ranger. This Wireless Battery-powered Remote-controlled Desilting Robot for River Channels is transforming the maintenance of river channels.

The River Ranger was developed to facilitate year-round desilting operation, with a capacity to collect about 18 tons of silt daily. Not only does the River Ranger have the ability to move freely within channels and rivers for long-distance, it is also equipped with a front bucket and bulldozer device that can efficiently remove or push away silt and debris. Its exceptional mobility is crucial for addressing urgent desilting needs, especially after heavy rains.

Through such pioneering technology and partnership with the government, Veolia continues to lead the way in effective waste management.
